9.7.2 Scaffold tubing and fittings specifications

 A. Scaffold tubing should be 48.3mm(1.9inch)nominal outside diameter.

*B. Scaffold tubing(for tube-and-coupler,system,and fabricated tubular frame scaffolds,etc.)

shall be welded or seamless structural steel pipe fabricated in accordance with any of the following pipe fabrication specifications and as specified and this section:

--ASTM A500,Grade B; 290N/mm2(42ksi)(30kg/mm2)minimum yield stress;3.4mm or 3.76mm nominal wall thickness.--GB-- X-42

--ASTM A53,Grade B;240N/mm2(35ksi)(24kg/mm2)minimum yield stress;3.68mm nominal wall thickness. ---GB--Q235B

--BS1139,Part1,Section 1.1;235N/mm2(34ksi)(24kg/mm2)minimum yield stress;4.0mm nominal wall thickness(EN39,THICKNESS TYPE4,IS equivalent). --GB--Q235

--EN10219;320N/mm2(46ksi)(32kg/mm2)minimum yield stress;3.2 mm nominal wall thickness (EN39,THICKNESS TYPE 3,IS NOT EQUIVALENT).--GB--Q345

C.---All tubing produced shall meet the testing and inspection requirement of ASTM A500,including flattening test

D.----Actual yield and tensile strengths shall be verified by Purchser of scaffold tubing by

   (1)---receipt from supplier and review of certified inspection test reports for each lot of tubing produced from the same heat of steel ,and

   (2)----by independent machanical testing,per ASTM A370,of test specimens taken from two lengths of tubing for each lot of 500lengths, or fraction thereof ,received. All mechanical properties shall meet minimum requirements after galvanizing .All test reports shall be written in English.

Each piece of scaffold tubing produced in accordance with the above specifications shall be clearly,continuously, and permanently marked to distinguish it from unacceptable,substandard tubing.All tubing shall be marked to ,prior to galvanizing ,with the pipe manufacturer's name or logo,applicable pipe fabrication specification (including Grade and nominal wall thickness), and year of manufacture continuously along its full length,in a position remote from any electric resistance weld(ERW) seam,using a low stess rolling die embossed marking system. The marking interval shall not exceed 1.5meter, with characters a minimum of 4mm high and impression depth of at least 0.2mm deep. Painted marking is unacceptable.

F.---Scaffold components shall not be exposed to acids or other corrosive substances,unless adequate precautions have been taken to protect the scaffold from damage.

G.---Where a built-in ladder is part of scaffold system,it shall conform to the requirements for ladders.

H.----Scaffold components shall be properly stored to prevent damage.
